I think before people get carried away with proposals for creating new play areas, benches, plazas, planters, scooter lanes and the like, individuals/residents need first to properly look after what they currently do have responsibility for (lanes, gardens, hedges, and bins etc etc.)
The internal lanes (with exception of lower Midlothian West) are all in a really poor and unmaintained condition. Construction traffic, recently and over the years, together with bin lorries etc has taken its toll.
Additionally, bins are often left out at the collection point from one week to the next with no clear policy on what's acceptable. Lower Midlothian West do however appear to be able to manage this aspect well.
